Mark Your Calendar for Giving Tuesday
This Giving Tuesday, East Coast Environmental Law will be profiling our work to create accessible, educational resources about environmental law in Atlantic Canada. We're counting down the days until we launch an updated website with a reorganized Resource Library, and we're so excited to share the new layout that will make it easier than ever for members of the public to find information that can help them understand and navigate complex environmental law problems.
Advocating for Law and Policy Reform in Nova Scotia
The summer and autumn in Nova Scotia have been busy seasons for environmental law and policy reform! Within the past few weeks, East Coast Environmental Law staff have prepared submissions to government departments, consultants, and task forces on issues that will shape the future of environmental protection and decision-making in Nova Scotia.
Sharing the 2023 Summer Student Blog Series!
This summer, the East Coast Environmental Law team was excited to have three terrific law students working with us to support projects on legal protections for biodiversity, Indigenous law revitalization, legal protections for wetlands, and support to communities navigating environmental assessment and decision-making processes. New blog posts by the students offer snapshots of their summers with us, and we hope you'll take a look!
Sharing Short and Long Summer Reads on Environmental Law
For all of you who enjoy a good summer read (or two, or three), we're happy to share some new resources published on our website this month!
Bringing Restorative Justice into Environmental Law
We have a new resource available on our website! Restorative Justice and Environmental Law: An introduction to using a restorative approach to address environmental harms in Nova Scotia explains how restorative justice offers transformative ways to address environmental problems.
New Resources on Coastal Laws and Aquaculture Regulation in Nova Scotia
Two new resources on coastal laws and aquaculture regulation in Nova Scotia are now accessible through our website.
Sharing Our 2022 Annual Report
The East Coast Environmental Law team is happy to share that our 2022 Annual Report is now up on our website! The report highlights some of the many projects we worked on in 2022 as we advanced our mission to advocate for progressive environmental laws and policies in Atlantic Canada, provide public legal education on environmental law, and share our legal skills with those who are working to redress or prevent environmental harms.
