Thoughts on Environmental Law: An Interview with Our Former Articled Clerks

July 30, 2019

For this blog post, East Coast Environmental Law’s Communications Coordinator, Taylor Milne, interviews Payton Tench and Mike Kofahl, our organization’s two previous Articled Clerks, on their experience in the field of environmental law.

Mike Kofahl, our 2017-2018 Articled Clerk, has continued his work with East Coast Environmental Law, and now holds the position of Staff Lawyer. Mike’s work has greatly focused on marine and coastal issues.

Payton Tench, our 2018 - 2019 Articled Clerk, has recently completed his year of articling. It was a fantastic year working with Payton, and we wish him all the best at his new position with the Department of Justice. Payton, you will be missed.

Find out what Mike and Payton have to say about how they found themselves practicing in the field of environmental law, what it was like articling for an environment law charity, how environmental law differs from other areas of law, what frustrates them most about environmental law, and how they anticipate environmental law will develop and grow as a tool for addressing social justice and climate change.
